Digging snowpits and pressing keys for the Sierra Avalanche Center. Based in Lake Tahoe, snow science, niche avalanche nerdery, splitboarding, climbing, biking.
What are u looking for? Tahoe is still legit but Bear Valley can be cheaper & possibly closer to the bay. Very little dining/night options so you’d want to be self sufficient w that.

We upgraded from a less stylish ~70’s stove to the GE Profile about a year ago. It’s basically been great. I could see not loving the burner placements on the left. We use Lodge cast iron w it and they are slightly bigger than ideal on the smaller and less powerful left side. Not a big deal though.

Yep, heavily rimed precipitation particle. Nice shot!

Thanks! Looks wonderful. A week at a hut with a solid crew is as good as it gets.

Have you stayed there? What did you think?

That was rough

Love seeing the white pelicans flying over Tahoe on their way to or from Pyramid Lake.

Again curious how they handle the Clips size advantage. Does Kerr go small or try to strategically match it?

Was that Pods’ responsibility?

Curious to see how Al is deployed strategically on Jokic. Also just looking forward to watching the refreshed Nugget.

Did you or anyone see the interaction? Nothing on LP

Totally fair. I agree with the positives but am increasingly concerned with the rising cost of electricity here and the lack of sufficient urgency for fully addressing that. It feels years away from me using the giant battery in my car to smooth the grid. Which has been doable for years.

Perhaps not but given what a leader CA has been and how expensive our electricity is, we should be leading in VPP adoption but we have recently taken multiple steps in the opposite direction.
October 9, 2025 at 4:44 PM
It should but CA & Newsome sadly is slow walking wider implementation of V2G thru VPPs.

Same here and the bike I got has actually been both a Claa 1 & 3 over the years….the e-bike Classes are pretty unintuitive and unfortunately seem to add to the confusion around them and e-motos.

I live in Meyers and the regrowth from the 2007 Angora Fire, largely on south and east facing slopes is very interesting to compare to the regrowth in the 2021 Caldor Fire, which is largely north and west facing slopes. Happy to give trail beta if it’s ever helpful.

Ceanothus post Caldor is also impressive ~7000’ in Tahoe.

Many a Canadian bar fight over the classic graupel vs hail debate.

Let me know if some local advocacy would be helpful. I sit on the bike advisory committee here.

We cross at that spot frequently. The county has plans to drop a lane + reduce speeds to the E of this spot, but slowing cars on the fast turn approaching from W & shortening the crossing is a more critical in my mind.
