This month I found out that I have won my first ever merit-based scholarships for my research on 16th century understandings of religious hypocrisy in relation to Paul's letters: An Ontario Graduate Scholarship and a Reid Trust Scholarship.

My first ever publication has been approved by the publisher and will soon be available: The Oxford Bibliography for 1 Corinthians! It was a fun project to work on alongside my doctoral supervisor. I have found Oxford Bibliographies extremely helpful for my own research.

I found this conversation between two Vineyard USA leaders extremely encouraging. The whole idea of transitioning from a movement birthed from revival into a more deeply-rooted movement that has what it takes to be healthy and fruitful for generations is so critical.

A blog post articulating some reasons why I think charismatic theology and practice is preferable over the more non-committal continuationist position.

Why be a Charismatic, and Not Merely a Continuationist?
Over the last ten or so years I have journeyed from being a charismatic Christian fresh out of my experience of the Toronto Blessing through many years of theological education and many different eccl...

As I have said many times now on this blog, I am profoundly indebted to the charismatic movement and the many leaders within it who have worked so hard to make space in the church for the working of t...

I can't believe John Calvin wrote this in a letter to Guillaume Farel, can you imagine saying something like this to someone today? So funny! ‘because I am aware that you are quite accustomed to my rudeness, I will make no excuse for treating you so uncivilly’.

Many people are speaking out against Sean Feucht's planned gatherings in Canada. Again we have secular people/institutions critiquing so-called Christians in powerful ways, proving themselves to be more Christlike than some leading 'Christians'. It is supposed to be the other way around.

Situations like this make terrifying divine wrath and the praying of imprecatory prayers against evil people untroubling and even desirable.

This week I am TA’ing a week-long intensive on the Book of Revelation at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto. I am enjoying it immensely, but it is also making me sad because it is reminding me of all the years I lost to Mike Bickle’s truly nonsensical interpretation of this book.

A new blog post: In my last post, I discussed the Corinthian church, Paul's 'problem child'. We might want to assume that surely after receiving Paul's two divinely inspired letters they got their act together, right? Wrong.

With the almost unimaginable number and severity of moral scandals being exposed at this time, Charismatic Christianity is at a crossroads. We need to thoroughly rethink Charismatic theology and practice by asking the hard question 'How did we get here?'

What do Passports, Liberation Theology and the Charismatic Movement have in Common?
I want to start by apologizing that it has been so long since my last blog post! This semester I simply said yes to far too many things, with the result being that I was a little overwhelmed work/school-wise. I have seen the error of my ways and will be blogging much more regularly from now on! To get this blog post started, I want you to imaginatively put yourself in my shoes: It is Friday November 22nd, and you are headed to your first ever Society of Biblical Literature meeting in San Diego,
