Exposing efforts by utilities and fossil fuel interests to undermine clean energy with the Energy and Policy Institute. Personal account.
California would be the 7th state in recent years to pass a law like this. These laws are already saving ratepayers money! Connecticut customers have been spared from footing the bill for up to $10 million of their utilities’ spending.

Wild fact from the utility/large-business settlement proposal in FPL’s rate case, via @shelbyisgreen.bsky.social.
Every time I hear a politician describe the pro-monopoly, pro-utility, pro-rate hike position as “pro-business,” a part of me dies inside.

The Trump Admin says LIHEAP is no longer necessary - it'll just do energy dominance instead, and anyway all poor people are con artists.
Meanwhile, utility rates are skyrocketing to feed Wall St. profits.
Ending LIHEAP would result in people freezing and overheating to death in their homes.

The thing people should know about this headline, which is the culmination of a year's long effort by Connecticut's investor-owned utilities to smear and unseat their hard-nosed regulator, is what happened to their stock price the moment after it dropped.

One thing this excellent NYT graphic illustrates well is how much the coal retirement backsliding problem is really being led by three companies: Duke, Southern and Berkshire Hathaway.

This is why Scalia continues to best me over and over again even posthumously. I'm sitting over here making my cocktails with regular-ass non-glacier ice like a damn noob.

I've been working as a climate activist for 15 years or so now. What a strange and sad feeling to see headlines about the things we have been warning about in the future tense begin to come to pass in the present.
