It is hard to see any reason not to do this or why the Os wouldn't do it, but I just don't believe they will.

Yeah I guess that makes sense. I'd really rather they didn't though, I know there are other speedy CF types in the system (e.g. Overn), but EBJ still profiles very differently from most of the prospect pool.

Was there ever a suggestion that he should be traded? That would definitely fall into "bold strategy, Cotton" territory for me.

What was Erin thinking of!

Making him play a Nazi was a bold choice though!

I'm sending in my man Cromwell...

And if a guy who isn't a native English (or Spanish) speaker can spot it...

If they don't extend Rogers now, it is virtually impossible to see how they would ever extend any pitcher, or sign a free agent to a significant deal. You are always gambling with injury when you pay a pitcher, but c'mon, just get it done.

I'm too busy freaking out about his velocity apparently being down yesterday. I've been conditioned to expect the worst possible outcome when it comes to pitchers.

I'm sure Gunnar is fine. He'd expect at least twice that AAV, and he knows he's probably headed up the coast or to LA come free agency.

Adley, however, might want to try hitting like it's still 2023 (once he's fit).

I'd be very happy to be wrong, but to name a school after someone like that, and to keep that name, is... interesting (which is probably why I keep coming back to it!)
August 6, 2025 at 3:46 PM
Gunnar's high school tells me everything I don't want to know about his politics, and by extension the views of a fair chunk of the roster...

I think you've been out in the sun too long 😄😄
August 2, 2025 at 10:56 AM
I think that the smart play here might be to try to poach the hitting coach who unlocked this uber-Stowers (if that's what happened). We've always got room for more hitting coaches...

Not Frasier, Seinfeld!

Teri Hatcher in (I think) Frasier reference?

My teenage daughter knows they are terrible people (well, two of them anyway), and enjoys watching them be miserable...

Personally, I'd forgotten how much casual homophobia there was in the classic era.

I'm sure that Elias will secure outstanding value...🤔

They should have called the game after Ced made that catch.

Knowing our luck he'd blow his elbow out on day 5...
July 23, 2025 at 4:29 PM
My feeling is that there is a disconnect between Rubes saying "the money is there", and Elias identifying a big, multi-year contract he considers good value. I think ME hates wasted years at the back of a contract, but sometimes that's what it takes.
July 23, 2025 at 3:19 PM
Yeah, we'd all be ok with chucking a few extra bucks at a better starting pitcher than even the good version of Charlie Morton!
July 23, 2025 at 3:10 PM
I don't think that the Mets are a fair comparison - Steve Cohen is much richer than Rubenstein, and NY is a much bigger market than Baltimore (even with the Yankees being the dominant team). And it's not like the Mets ever actually win the WS, they always find a way to lose, nothing is guaranteed.
