Australia all out 209. Kagiso Rabada gets five-for-20. Reminded me of Michael Holding at the Oval 1976. We’ll now see if this is a flat track or not.

The Times today has an article about my local The Pineapple (because our Prime Minister likes to drink there). That's me in the checked jacket at the bar. Isn't it a coincidence I should be there when they took the shot?

Bad bird pics. Every year a family of very small grebes winters outside our marina. I suppose they're just little grebes, but it's the sea and conditions are pretty harsh, so I sometimes wonder if they're black-necked or Slavonian. Can never get a good enough shot #birds #bad #pics

Why take it like that? I meant "calculate" as a generic term—to cover all cases where it's worth checking the truth of the answer that first comes to mind. Over the millennia, scholarly humans have invented myriad tools for this purpose, varying in accuracy and arduousness. Choose accordingly.

If you are in Paris next Monday from 2pm to 3pm—and the following three Mondays at the same time—you will be welcome at my lectures on "Thoughts and Things" at the Collège de France (where I will seek "to understand minds via the role they play in guiding us through a complex world")
