As a lone wolf --a freelancer or self-employed artist with only domestic overhead-- it's certainly possible to make a living, sometimes a good one. Bands and other very small collectives can do okay if they are savvy and plug all their leaks. A viable business in the arts? Basically doesn't exist.

The major problem with booking agencies is they have no incentive to make deals efficient or transparent. They get a percentage of what the band gets paid, and cannot care about anything else on the page. If inefficient shadiness gets the band an extra grand, they get an extra $150 and that's great.

All parts licensed neck, $80 basswood body from China, 3 way switch, volume for each pickup, master tone, Vega trem, hot Seymour Duncan pickups, humbucker upside down in the bridge, single coil neck, 561k vol, 334k neck, 1951 Russian tone cap 29nF tone cap, etc etc nice lightweight lil noisemaker

And today I’m bringing McDonald’s to my son after school and driving him back to his Mom’s. That’s it. Takes three hours of navigating LA freeways and an hour of charging and worth every second. That’s all, carry on!
