At a coffee shop surrounded by other people with laptops, I like to pretend we're all working on our first novels together. Writing, editing, rewriting, more editing. Until finally we send them out into the world and celebrate with more coffee. Maybe a matcha. But definitely a pastry.

Building worlds, creating characters, relationships and storylines through writing reminds me so much of playing with toys when I was a kid. It's been a while, but the kid in me is so happy I came out to play again.

When I meet a Christian, I immediately think the worst. Sometimes I wonder how the real Christians out there, the ones who don't bow down to trump or the GOP, feel about this.

One of my characters is in the middle of an operation that could get her killed. It involves explosives, guns and an unusually strong man. I'm sure she's on edge, yet here I am, too tired to write her out of this mess. It's been a long day. Maybe the double shot of espresso will help.
