I once lived on a research boat for 3 months collecting basalt from the seafloor, I made a radio doc about the 10 year anniversary of PrEP's FDA approval, and I know too much about Pokémon
I read Piranesi last night for the first time, and then messaged a friend this: "I love a book that feels like it's been written for centuries and that I swear I read when I was a child"

They're taking down Columbia's flagpoles! I talked to a worker -- new metal ones will go in their place, but first they need to dig down another ~30 feet. The worker said they're from Oregon, probably cedar, and from 1892 and 1901 (this one). The original plaques have been saved.

In the middle of being in a VC for @dompalombimusic.bsky.social's NYE stream, Route 201 was on loop and then I had this idea.

Leaving this in 2024.

Help, I have three white elephant parties on Saturday, all at 6:30, and each in a different borough: The Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn. I'm singing in a concert until 6:30. I'm thinking I'll just go to The Bronx and do a sweep down??

I'm a producer on a new show! Listen to American Railroad: open.spotify.com/episode/2dhRmG…

This podcast is about the songs and stories of the forgotten groups who built the railroads in this country, and this episode specifically is about Swannanoa, NC and the song "Swannanoa Tunnel."

I'll be at MAGFest 2025 celebrating videogame music, and I will be happily playing cello in the Community Orchestra. So if you see a tall bearded guy with a reddish case featuring Pokémon stickers, say hi! (I may ask you what videogame tunes make you nostalgic, too!)

Hi! We should follow each other if you like: journalism, videogames, music, cello, singing, earth science, ethnomusicology, nostalgia, being gay, NYC, working out, Pokémon, Magic the Gathering, Diane Duane's Young Wizards series or Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time!
