What a bunch of schmucks!! Congress works like 2 1/2 days a week for part of the year. The have staff, expense accounts, security, top notch health care (at NO COST) for them AND their family! How many times have they raised their own salaries since they raised the minimum wage? FO Mike Johnson!!

OTD 1945:
A woman and five children died after they discovered a Japanese balloon bomb on Gearhart Mt., Oregon. The only civilians known to have died from enemy actions in the continental US during WW2. Japanese released 9,300 balloon bombs in 1944-45. They were the first "intercontinental" weapon.

Scott Joplin (1868-1917). Famous ragtime composer and musician. When he died in 1917 and was buried in an unmarked grave in NYC. After adaptations of his works won an Oscar in the 1973 movie "The Sting", his grave was located and a marker was placed.
