I've updated my @obsidian.md theme so everything looks pretty and that's basically the same as actually accompishing the work I have to do today, right?

I've been spending a few weeks back in Europe - took a nice stroll around the French mountains near Grenoble this past weekend.

I left summer storms in Sydney and flew to Ireland for winter storms. Holy moly has it been breezy here in Dublin. Nothing for it but a cuppa tae and wait for it all to blow over. #Eowyn

Moving to Australia for parent leave means I entirely skipped winter this year. Sitting on the verandah on a summer evening watching the kookaburras isn't a bad December activity.

Getting used to Summer Christmas down under. Warm is good, but it also feels somehow... wrong. No mulled wine to be found at markets either!

Pandemic is great - a co-op game where it's all players against the board. Heat, a racing game, is also excellent but maybe a little deep. And I love Coup for a cheeky "liars" game but one that is very simple and light.

The discs on the side of a discbound notebook function like a spiral-bound, allowing you to lay it flat; but pages can also be removed to reorder things, or when you need a junk scribble or to hand someone a note - all without ruining your notebook. Beautiful!

The modern day one software experience in a nutshell: Microsoft Flight sim 2024 has offloaded a lot of tasks to the cloud, and so demand has crashed their system on launch.

I've been using Obsidian for my notes lately - it's local, powerful, and free - and they've just released a very cool official web clipper that captures key metadata - including the original publication date - and body text. Still not ideal for audio / video, but neat!

Sydney's Sculptures by the Sea art trail in Bondi last week - some very cool stuff. Well worth the lovely walk, even with steep stairs and a baby!
