People are rightly concerned about Trump’s tariffs and any effect they might have on manufacturing jobs – but policymakers that care about the working class should also focus on the service sector (where 78 percent of the working class are employed) and making those jobs better.

The working class, a large majority of the workforce and its most racially and ethnically diverse group, faces low pay and higher unemployment.
