I have finished reading “Piaf”—a biography of Edith Piaf by her sister Simone Berteaut, originally published in 1969, 480 pages. Edith Piaf died at age 47 in 1963. She had a long struggle with alcohol and drugs, but remains an icon because of the emotional impact of her singing.
