Sometimes some projects don't work out. This philo squamifernum looks healthy but it has struggled to grow for the past three years only growing the top two leafs. It was also consistently infested with thrips, risking the rest of my collection. My solution? The compost pile.

Philodendron Florida beauty. They come out all green, but as the harden off the variegation appears. This one is looking like it is going to be a near half moon (half white half green). I really want to focus on getting this more mature this year.

The tiniest fenestrated Thai con. It's the first leaf after chopping a node so I expect the following leaves to not be fenestrated for a few after this one. #houseplants #monstera #thaicon #thaiconstellation

Goldenrod. A sure sign of the end of summer. Many people consider it a weed, but it is a critical native plant that bees use as a last source of nutrients for the season before it gets too cold.

One of the worst parts of buying a century home is finding stuff like this. Beautiful solid wood that was painted over for decades by landlords. The whole house is like this. The sad part is the cost of restoring this on my own is exponentially more than just repainting it. #DIY #centuryhome

Blue flag iris. A native in my area and one of my favorites for its shape and color.

Not a houseplant this time. Native to my area, Prairie Smoke (Geum trifolum) getting ready to flower. A nice ground cover that can tolerate direct sun and easily spreads (this is 3x the size it was last year when I got it in mid summer).

Newest leaf on my Epipremnum Pinnatum Albo. Very satisfied with the color of this relatively new addition.

Moved in with the GF and she gave me a space for a greenhouse/plant safe space from animals in the basement. It has made me realize I don't care for a small portion of the plants I have and less may be more. I swear it's not because I filled it up immediately... #houseplants #philodendron #monstera

Brought these two home from the Plantasia Garden and Landscape show yesterday.

First pic, Monstera Peru variegated from Seneca Greenhouse. Second pic, Epipremnum pinnatum albo from Fern and Flannel. #houseplants #monstera #epipremnum #variegated #albo

The difference 18 days makes with a new Anthurium warocqueanum leaf. This one was pretty neglected last year and has taken all winter in the grow tent to recover and start putting out nice new leafs. plz ignore the sun bleached vetchii... #houseplants #anthurium #warocqueanum #anthuriumwarocqueanum

I really like long leafed and eared philodendron... Left to right, a dusty atabapoense, a nice mature silver sword, and a fresh billietae leaf. #houseplants #philodendron #atabapoense #silversword #billietae

Another anthurium vetchii post. I'm always surprised how small and unassuming these start and quick they size up. This is the same leaf after 13 days. #anthurium #anthuriumvetchii #housplants

Begonia dregei/maple leaf begonia. A different type of begonia with a caudex to store moisture as it is native to Southern Africa. Propagations don't form the caudex as easily as when grown from seed as you can see from this one I propagated about a year ago. #begoniadregei #begonia #houseplants

A fresh anthurium vetchii king leaf. Not sure if this is narrow or wide form, or if that's just another marketing gimmick. Either way, I can't wait to see how much larger this gets compared to the previous leaf in the second pic. #anthuriumvetchiiking #anthurium #housplants

Have not been having the greatest time with my begonia since late summer, but here's an amphioxus that is flowering and a slightly happier listada. I would like to get another amphioxus I have to flower so I can possibly get some seeds. #begonia #begonialistada #begoniaamphioxus #houseplants #flower

A break from the plants for some home made dinner rolls for the holiday. I think I've finally gotten the recipe down and they're turning out how I like.

Haworthia Cymbiformis variegated. Not really a fan of succulents but I like how these have a transparent appearance in the variegation. It's like little frosted pieces of glass.

Drosera Burmanii. These things love fungus gnats and any other flying houseplant pest. Only downside is they cannot survive on tap water (need rain water or distilled water), need to be sitting in said water, and need high light. #houseplants #carnivorousplants #sundew #drosera
