Preach! I always ask my students what their favorite OutKast song is and I get a lot of blank stares or “Hey Ya.” But this semester someone said “GhettoMusick” and I stopped everything and played it in class 🤣

My first thought was how ridiculous, petty, and childish this was. My second thought was why did they post this weeks after I taught 2000s social media and the meme-ification of society.

My first thought was how ridiculous, petty, and childish this was. My second thought was why did they post this weeks after I taught 2000s social media and the meme-ification of society.
I also think an element of this is the desire to rewatch stuff. The glut of entertainment is too much and people don’t want to spend time rewatching something unless they are a fan of the material. I wonder if filmmakers think, “I’ve got one shot at this audience, I need to make it clear.”
