Free and Open Source Software...that kind of hacker.
Author of nerdy books and stop motion filmmaker. "Themes are for 8th grade book reports and also writers."
Professor of werewolf linguistics and gender-affirming lycanthropy. (he/him)
I see a LOT of problems with removing section 230, especially around actual freedom of speech (LGBT+ expression and advocacy for instance).
That said, I do think legal frameworks can play a major role. Ex: Open source software exists as a result of clever legal frameworks. (And culture too!)

It can be discouraging, but some of them will vote for trans rights, a few may be persuaded, and the rest we will know where they stand. And beyond calling the more that allies stand up for trans people in offices and hospitals and schools, the more they will see how popular trans rights are.

Perhaps calls need to make it clear that is on the table, and if they don't listen, begin looking at options for 2026.

She shouldn't be worried about the general. That's how you get primaried.

I see that as refusing to acknowledge their masculinity, rather than as attacking gender.

It's still a good reminder that you can help others by simply not doing their work until they compel you to.

TNG definitely got better as it went, but my first thought reading this was definitely "Wait, isn't 'The Measure of a Man' in season 2?" My next thought was that "Elementary, Dear Data" has Dr. Pulaski in it...

LOVED The People's Joker!
I laughed and it brought a tear to my eye seeing an anarchic transgender fair-use parody film film reach the big screen. It gave me hope that my little animated film can follow in the trail it blazed to bring joy.

Big agree from me! One of the powerful themes of Star Trek is bitter enemies with alien cultures becoming allies, friends, coworkers over time. Klingons, romulans, ferengi, cardassians. Starfleet working with with the Jurati-Borg was a brilliant (rushed!) stroke that deserved follow up.

I believe that is the kind of Star Trek we need right now, because that's where we are at right now. It's also why I feel like Andor is such kindred pairing with Star Trek right now.
