Will an independent inquiry really help prevent a recurrence of what happened at Manston? A Brook House inspection, published last week, suggests that absolutely none of the recommendations made by the 2023 Brook House Inquiry have been implemented.

This latest report is pretty scandalous, given the vast amount of time and money spent just a few years ago on the Brook House Inquiry, which looked at shocking conditions there, exposed by the BBC's Panorama programme. It begs the question: did the Brook House Inquiry achieve anything at all?
