50th anniversary screening of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (at Letchworth’s lovely Broadway Cinema) made me think: Jack Nicholson is such a charismatic and engaging presence, he makes you forget R.P. McMurphy was originally in jail for having sex with a child.

Just picked up three '70s Westerns written by Alan Sharp (NIGHT MOVES screenwriter) on Blu-ray. Great leading men (Peter Fonda, Burt Lancaster, Gregory Peck), interesting directors (Richard Fleischer, Peter Fonda, Robert Aldrich, Ted Kotcheff) and all worth a watch.

Bonkers, camp as fuck and crammed with deliciously ripe performances, Ron Howard’s Eden is an absolute delight. Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Daniel Brühl, Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney – and a Hans Zimmer score. And it’s based on a true story! Such a pity audiences voted them off the island. The fools!
