The Framers wrote protection into the 14th Amdt, drawing on the idea that in return for allegiance, the government owes us protection. Read my symposium piece forthcoming in @denverlawreview.bsky.social on what has been lost by the erasure of the right to protection. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
