Very much a Sussex thing, from what I can tell. Local Bonfire Societies take turn to host processions, fireworks, bonfires and burning of effigies from September to November. This was Battle last weekend, and it’s Rye’s turn this Saturday

Interesting evening wandering around the Palace Of Westminster. Free to walk between House of Lords, Commons, Gallery, Robing Room. Obligatory look at the ITN Wallbox in the Central Lobby, and the Shotoku remote cameras. Reckon there are about 100 mics suspended in the House of Lords. No pics inside

Apparently the Glass Armonica the band use was used by Franz Anton Mesmer - whose name is where mesmerising comes from. Playing it could have a hypnotic effect on musicians, due to the way the parts move. Never seen one, before tonight’s Jools.
