Contemplative Activism
The one major holiday that happens to be non-religious, requires no clergy, a the most ideal opportunity to give priests a day at home…And this is the day to offer a service?!

Experienced this before too and will never understand.

A little peculiar to talk of kingship in this moment, and what an opportunity to really talk about this moment

Which is where I’m honestly a little hung up…

As a Spirit fan, I 1000% want Trin re-signed. As a Trin fan, I want her to get the contract she deserves.

And as a jaded Midwesterner with a chip on my shoulders, I’m not so sure how the league threads the needle.

CLE can simply never match contract offers from NY, which drastically skews the competition. Granted, good teams in small markets often have far more grit and heart, generating and delivering unmatched pride in fans, but it’s for a fleeting moment. As soon as talent develops, vultures are ready.

And also…

Growing up a fan of a small market city (Cleveland), I absolutely seethed with resentment at top dollar teams.

On any given day: any star or local hero could be poached—by NY, Boston, LA…

I’m feeling it. We’ll see whether Gotham keeps it up for the second half

FMN is great, in transition so maybe reshaping some things.

I offer free spiritual direction and am especially inclined toward activists. In DC and happy to connect/support/resource as helpful.

Clearly a pre-rapture mindset.

Seems the common contention is with singling out an individual in the congregation… I’ve never heard any take issue with a direct wedding homily though, nor a eulogy. Like those, this wasn’t a principle service—it was an *inauguration* service with the explicit purpose of singling out an individual
