I don't mean against the state itself specifically, I mean trying to make populations way more dependent on the police and state institutions any time violence arises.
Every state does this, though often through different methods (e.g. u.s. often de facto banning guns among marginalized groups)

The extremely, ugly public turn against trans rights, especially among prominent liberals and centrists, doesn't fully make sense until one realizes that it's elites attacking overwhelmingly working class demographics to punish us for our defiance and try to crush any hopes for autonomy.

I mean, I personally think pepper spray and most knives being banned in various places is ridiculous and would say it's partly because those governments want a more defenseless populace, but that's me.

Sparked by this thread, which I found much of quite useful: bsky.app/profile/eige...
I want to be clear, in the first instance, that this is not a critique of some systematic issue on the left. This is an off the cuff thread about a type of individual internal suffering I am starting to think is probably more widespread than I believed.

The class war also explains the ridiculously conciliatory to outright traitorous behavior of the smattering of trans gentry in the face of these attacks. Their main goal is to reassure the other elites they're not like the rest of us (especially those angry, radical poor transes) to save themselves.

The other main factor is a stunning lack of local infrastructure for anyone but said tourists, especially if you're walking or riding. Like even the bus system's become notably *less* functional in the 20 years I've been here.

Stories only possible in a place that never banned pepper spray or notably large knives.
