Their constituents are the wealthy & powerful. Everyone else is expendable; with disgust & violence on people most different to them.

They have given up on crises mitigation in favour of self protection.

They currently need enough people to believe them, until their power cannot be challenged.

It feels like sci-fi dystopias are accelerating towards reality.

The strongest motive seems to be a pro-Israel default, with a fear of being seen as anti-Semitic.
A continuing lack of acknowledgement of the distinction between religion & State, in both support & criticism.

I hope you're not turning right-wing, but the worrying aspect is, that people support principles like public ownership of essential utilities & services, but use a vote to protest/support parties that are ideoligally opposed.

Another boost for profiteers who lack innovation, at expense to society. Increasing inequality, which exacerbates multiple crises.
Govt should tax excessive wealth (to discourage harmful activity & support universal services) & regulate for sustainable conditions for everyone (inc. the wealthy).

Arguably, the current political choices are down to many variables & events; significantly, the results of the referendums, rejecting AV & EU cooperation.
