I had that one. Even kind of remember the song. I was amazed you could play such a thin pice of plastic

Thanks - I got to see her in Europe. It was enthralling to hear the new album live.

Did you get any audio or video clips from that show? I’d love to hear it live!

Or $22 to every person in America and the rest to a billionaire appreciation fund, which sounds more in line with this administration

I’m planning to see her in Utrecht and Groningen this fall. Can’t wait! Hope she performs Sad Satellite.

You were at that show? Lucky dog!

I despair because it wouldn’t make a difference. Most of those who should be convinced by this figure would dismiss it out of hand. Only (sex) scandals, not policy choices, seem to matter in politics nowadays.

This is so visionary

I have this quote underlined in my copy!
August 10, 2025 at 7:30 PM
I just finished it about a month or two ago after a decade on my shelf - exactly the same printing as in the photo! What really struck me was his praise of the Middle Ages and scorn for the classical period, especially Rome.

This is the case even in places like Amsterdam. Shopkeepers repeat “no parking, no business” like a mantra. My hunch is that none of them ever walk or cycle and can’t imagine others doing so.

Had to read that a few times because I’m used to hearing “it’s hard to beat” so much I didn’t notice the not. Was almost convinced that sugar cereal, cheeseburgers and donuts would help 😆 — alas!

Portland to be exact

I was mainly shopping at a Kroger store (Fred Meyer) - but at the end of the trip I figured it out and used a coupon, Kroger card and some other trick to get a massive discount. It was like winning a boss fight.

I noticed this too when visiting the US. Grocery shopping was stressful because the prices shown were not what you ended up paying. So many tricks! Also noticed how avoiding the metric system helps obfuscate prices.

I noticed the change last year in their reporting but this confirms it.

True. But you can raise awareness so when there is a real alternative, you might choose differently. Not just non-US but open source in general

I was disappointed as well. That’s why I was thinking of next steps

I see many dissatisfied people here, who feel the EU failed them. I think these same citizens should take the power back and buy European goods and EU businesses develop alternatives to US monopoly products.

You can vote every time you choose to (not) buy an imported product from the USA.

What does this chart measure?

I had these as a kid! I think “pwoit” was a bit naughty

In Amsterdam SUVs are handy because of all the speed bumps.

I used to buy dystopian fiction, now I just watch the news.
