And this is before any expected growth. Globally they are expected to grow 5% per annum, and even in the EU the industry plans to double its passenger traffic by 2050. Supporting SAF is smart, relying on them is not.
Even ignoring all the fuel used by the military (e.g., watson.brown.edu/costsofwar/f...) commercial aviation is now using 100 billion gallons of fuel a year (www.statista.com/statistics/6...). Nobody's going to produce even a useful fraction of that in "sustainable" aviation fuel
