Agreed. (And even were it true it might be that the ‘best’ batsman by this def wd not score most runs - they might have faced tougher bowling)

He thinks that since function of batsman is to score runs, best batsman must be the one who scores the most. That seems clearly wrong to me! (This is in his essay on Block, in Ontology, Causality and Mind)
