I make video games. Full time programmer by day and working on all aspects of my own projects the rest of the time. My latest release is the revamped version of my puzzley platformer The Top Hat Club 🎩

Quick video. Nothing groundbreaking. Apart from the ‘swap’ card it’s basically Beleaguered Castle at the moment.

For a while I’ve been occasionally tinkering with this solitaire inspired game. It’s like Beleaguered Castle, but with special cards and levels. I’m trying to decide if making each level look like an overhead diagram of a castle looks good or not. #gamedev #solodev #screenshotsaturday

More #thinkypuzzlejam5 progress at lunchtime today. Settled on Colour Bee (yes, with a U) as a name, and made a title screen. Also did some menu/game flow stuff. Up to six levels now too! 🐝 #gamedev

Added particle effects and leaves to the flowers 🌱 Also some (way too small) instructional text. Definitely making levels next as I only have 3 so far (including this super easy first level). #gamedev #thinkypuzzlejam5

Tiny bit of progress on my #thinkypuzzlejam5 game yesterday. Just resizing things a bit and added wings and the win condition. In today’s lunch break I’ll try to do a quick particle effect. #gamedev

Unusually I had a few hours free today, so I started trying to make something for #thinkypuzzlejam5 - it’s a game about bees and pollen. Who knows if I’ll have time this week to finish it 😅 #gamedev #screenshotsaturday

Classic ostriches.

My “favourite” is where they’ve plonked it right between the delete button and the ‘other actually useful actions’ button in the Outlook mobile app. Urgh.

I’m trying to get better at promoting the games I’ve made. So, if you like slightly puzzley platformers, then have a look at The Top Hat Club. It’s cheap and… yeah, it’s alright! (well the few people that reviewed it seemed to like it 😊):

Really struggled to find time to finish this game jam, but managed to submit something playable, even if I still had a long todo list leftover. #GameDev #SoloDev #GitHubGameOff #GameJam

Slighty running out of time I can spend on this now. Updated the ingredients to solid models instead of billboards. They're pretty ugly, but each one needs to have a unique shape and colour, and ideally NOT look like an actual cooking ingredient. #GitHubGameOff #GameJam #GameDev

Adding some player prompts and tutorial stuff to my #GitHubGameOff #gamejam game. Still quite a bit of game functionality to finish as well though, as we head into the final week. #gamedev #screenshotsaturday

Still working on this #GitHubGameOff thing. Did a bit of UI stuff and ditched the crunchy pixely style in the process. The basic gameloop is sort of done, now adding player detection for the sneaking around. #gamedev

Not very cool, but it was definitely Unico, and it was definitely on a rented Betamax cassette.

Nearly half-way through #GitHubGameOff and I'm making OK progress on my game. You play as a little robot, trying to secretly improve the recipe of the secret sauce in your Dad's (?!) burger restaurant. #gamedev #gamejam

A late #screenshotsaturday to share progress for my GitHub Game Off Jam game. My little robot can now carry ingredients from storage to the kitchen. #gamedev

Still tinkering with maybe making something for the GitHub Game Off game jam. So far I have a little robot (that looks like a washing machine) moving around a very empty kitchen. #gamedev #gamejam #gameoff

My favorite retro game for this time of year is Nightmare in the Dark. In case you don’t know, it’s a fun, Halloweeny, Bubble Bobble-ish arcade game from the turn of the century.

To test video, let me say that in my spare time I have sporadically and (very) slowly been working on this cute steam engine racing game for the past million years or so. #gamedev
