To your point about attn to architectural detail: in S2E7 when Bernard unlocks the Vault and swings the hatch open, the first thing revealed is that the side walls in the antechamber have curved lower sections that merge into the floor. Why? Who knows, but it screams "Every detail was a choice!"

At first I thought this was about supply chains for small appliance components, but then I understood and was made glad.
