I’m guessing you’re not familiar with the extremely progressive politics of Oscar Hammerstein…? The song “You’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught”, for example (from South Pacific), is one of the most liberal songs in the history of Broadway, and is a scathing condemnation of bigotry and racism.
