A very satisfying showing at the No Kings protest at the Texas Capital this evening - easily 10K by my estimate, maybe even 15K. That’s a lot of folks in Austin willing to fight for American values and freedom

Umm - anyone know where RFK, Jr. was that day?

Another candidate for President Trump’s top accomplishment for his first 100 days - if he can do this in less than a 100 days, imagine what can he do with another 1360 days!!!

City lights have never been so beautiful - power back in Madrid and hopefully all of Spain and Portugal soon!

Quite an accomplishment - the market is 14% down from its post-election peak. The WSJ spoke to folks in business/conservatives happy to give Trump leeway up to a 20% market drop. How kind and considerate of them. Well, we’re within spitting distance of finding out what else they’re not going to do.

Just spent a couple hours doing Election Day calls for Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race (Musk is trying to buy this one). Honestly easy and fun.
Jump on opportunities like this - it’s not over yet, and you still have chances to do your part to keep darkness from taking over our country.

The first is what the Trump administration posted on their official Twitter account, and the second is the untouched original photo

Texas friends who do not support the destructive attack by Musk/Doge on our country the rule of law, call your senators NOW. If you’re in Texas, I recommend calling the non-big city offices for our senators - we’ve already overflown Senator Coryn’s Austin voicemail.

I took a few months’ break from reading the news, but I’m back to it starting today!

If you like the thrill of "getting lost" - as I do - it's so much fun to travel far from home and then open up Strava's heat map and going to your *new* location - possibilities abound!

We've been 3 days in Vienna visiting Christmas markets and sampling Wiener schnitzel, and guess what this "whacking" sound I heard at L'Opera (the cafe across from the Vienna State Opera House) is all about? 1/3🍜 🍽️

I would love to hear other folks' #EssentialCookbook suggestions - cookbooks that have real meat to them and teach you deep lessons. And have great, well-tested recipes.

One of those for me is Stella Parks' "Brave Tart". Here's this Thanksgiving's rendition of her "No Fuss Apple Pie".

Ah - Ice Cream Boy! I bought you maybe 36 years ago, at a Horchow Clearance store in Dallas. Three and a half decades of faithful service. Still running, still chill to a T, and making great gelato. In this case, Jeni's Ice Cream's recipe for Roasted Pumpkin Ice Cream with Five Spice Powder 1/2

I *love* making Dishoom’s chilli-cheese bread (a kind of open-face Indian pimento cheese sandwich), but chopping up those super smooth Indian chillis is a little dicey (hee-hee)…

I think it was my 2nd year of graduate school, the department of physics offered me a TA-ish role to help out this guy - Fred Moore, RIP, a really nice person and stellar scientist. Here’s a little story about what I did and the impact it had on terrified lower-division engineering students

I keep forgetting to share this for my fellow bakers - roasting bags make for great reusable proofing chambers (including overnight retarding in the fridge)

Transcription under pressure when I remembered at 8:50am that I had a brunch gig to leave for an hour later, and I'd promised the band an arrangement of Monsters Inc for a young fan.

What I made for dinner last night

1) Ragu bolognese - fantastically rich, from Nancy Silverton's "Mozza" (no homemade garganelli or tagliatelle last night, I went with a nice dried pappardelle from Trader Joe's)

2) Darkest Chocolate ice cream, from one of Jeni's Ice Cream books

We spent a solid month there a year and a half ago, and it’s incredibly chill (and much cheaper than Austin, as an example)
