Leopoldine Konstantin. I believe it was her last film appearance although she lived until 1965. A classically trained Austrian-born actress who is, indeed, perfect in the role.

It's a very good film - and certainly a top-notch noir - aided in no small measure by the performances of Grahame and Bogart.

It is exceptional, and top drawer Hitchcock. A great cast and a great script by Ben Hecht.
