Version 2.1 of the QC:MXP repeat-injection derived batch correction app is now available to download at qcmxp.org.
I thought it would be fun to revisit an old data set from Craig Wheelock's lab - doi.org/10.1183/1399....
16 batch, 880 subjects, 224 pooled QC injections, 100+ curated metabolites.

So happy to see (listen) to Phil Liggett commentating on the Tour Down Under (Channel 7). I started watching TdF under his guidance back in the 1980’s on C4 UK. He is a legend. Great stuff!

Last ride of the year pushing me just over 3,000km for 2024 on the “new” bike. Not bad all things considered. I will be very happy if I can do the same in 2025.

Back in Perth. Sunshine ☀️ & superb Aussie coffee. Thanks to all the lovely people who made my trip to the UK so special. Especially all the early career researchers to took the time to talk to me about my & their work during #metabomeeting2024. Great to see the future of metabolomics in safe hands.

If you ever find yourself in Glasgow looking for somewhere to eat. I highly recommend The Duke’s Umbrella on Argyle St. 5 mins from the station. Absolutely fabulous food and friendly. I had the Haggis Quesadilla followed by the venison 😋 Thanks to @widdowquinn.bsky.social for taking me.

Goodbye Manchester. Hello Glasgow! Don’t know why I like Glasgow so much but it is a handsome city with the friendliest people. And a beautiful train station.

Goodbye Liverpool. Hello Manchester! Liverpool may have the best football team in the world but Manchester has better pubs and shiny buildings!

Two stars of the #metabomeeting2024. Juliette Cooke who won the prize for best poster and Cecilia Wieder who won best talk. Both very well deserved. Hopefully this photo can get to them via @tebbels.bsky.social

Final day at #metabomeeting2024 and the last talk was the excellent Prof. Lorraine Brennan talking about nutritional metabolomics. Some fantastic science on show and fascinating perspectives on the future of this field.

Day two of #metabomeeting2024 started with a marvelous and inspirational talk from @metexplore.bsky.social discussing large-scale network analysis applied to metabolomics. The amount, and quality, of work done by his team is so impressive. (photo credit: Roy Goodacre)

Did you know that BlueSky has some nice moderation tools. One thing I hated on Twitter was otherwise entertaining academics feeling the need to express their tedious political views. With Bsky you can mute posts that contain a particular word. Go to “settings” and “moderation”.

Just about to board my flight to London. Off to speak at #Metabomeeting2024 in Liverpool, then Glasgow to see @nikrat.bsky.social and back to London for a week of art galleries and theatres 🎭
