Rabble offers excellent insights into the pivotal role of network protocols. They profoundly shape our online experiences and enable (or limit) basic freedoms, the possibility of peer governance, and commoning.

A problem with most e-democracy and governance technology, particularly DAO's, is that they take voting for the basic unit of democracy. But voting is neither necessary nor sufficient. The fundamental unit of democracy is the intentional gathering.
