Here's something the NHL can do. Summer Time original Six. Have a 20 game schedule where each team plays each other team 4 times. Then a 5 game playoff between the top 2 teams.

Besides permaculture, I'm also a hopeless dreamer when it comes to the Orffyre perpetual motion machine. Once a year, I let my brain twist and turn through the story in the hope that he wasn't a fraud and actually found a loophole.
Maybe this year is the year I figure it out.
