Tends to happen, but lately people get tied up in definitions rather than focusing on the facts, I’d venture that MOST people know evil when they see it. e.g. : genocide and Gaza, some spend hours discussing whether it is genocide or not, who cares? Still deeply disturbing and clearly “evil”.
