Mobilizing and winning young voters was key to the Sanders/Corbyn strategy. Researchers generally found they dominated among young voters, but failed to transform the age composition of the electorate.

In the Mamdani/Cuomo race, the 3 youngest categories had the MOST votes. That's unprecedented.

Excited to head to Prague (1st time!) for the #ecprjs25 workshop "Bringing Politics Back to Work."

I'll be presenting a paper analyzing the relationship between workplace authority and attitudes towards welfare state free-riding and benefit sanctions.

Happy to see colleagues, new and familiar!

The PS's U-turn on censuring the Bayrou govt comes with a reassertion of the Hollande-ist wing.

Striking Hollande maintains such intra-party power given the electoral consequences of his term on the PS.

Speaks to organizational anchoring of moderates, media climate & desire to avoid new elections.

9/ Our excellent reviewers flagged evidence of backlash against internal migrants in the Global South.

We hope for future comparativist dialogue geared towards explaining different political dynamics of internal and external migration in the global North and South.

7/ Next, we look at the effects of increased co-ethnic flows on electoral outcomes at the county-level.

We find that ⬆️ co-ethnic migration at the county-level leads to ⬆️ vote share for the CDU. Unclear if due to co-ethnic votes directly or increased turnout from co-partisans.

6/ Using SOEP panel data, we find no evidence of backlash among natives in counties receiving more co-ethnics.

Instead, we find native CDU supporters (whose party championed co-ethnic migration) in these places grew more concerned about *hostility* towards immigrants.

5/ How did political elites react to co-ethnic migration? Starkly differently from stances vis-a-vis other immigrants.

We document no coherent opposition to co-ethnic migration from any party, and consistent, staunch support from the Christian Democrats (CDU).
