I mostly discussed/argued about Star Wars (preferring to play defense) at the old place; probably will do the same here (hopefully finding fewer bad-faith disagreements).

I also draw things and work in a comic book store.
I don't think there's any SW show with which a new viewer couldn't make sense of it. The biggest issue in any of them is that you might care more about the characters if you'd spent time with them in another show.

ANDOR, though, makes you care about characters with only a couple minutes screentime.

These events, as told by Howard Kazanjian (via J.W. Rinzler), were likely an unpleasant experience for him:

I think Obi-Wan was more a matter of Ewan McGregor being the right age and wanting to do it than simply for nostalgia’s sake.

If a professional creator (particularly a trusted screenwriter like Lawrence Kasdan or Jon Favreau) wants to make something, is that still just dismissed as nostalgia?

—seemed to enjoy making someone cry in the writers' room, and I couldn't help but compare that to how skilled he was at making his audience cry.

At least there wasn't any meta-sense or subtext of "cheating on your spouse is fine, actually" (at least I don't remember there being any).

—if you did work he didn't like, he would let you know in perhaps the most cruel and humiliating way possible, and generally could not/would not conceal his disdain for you.

And of course that tracks with what you said about "picking on the weakest person". I remember seeing one story about how he—

It's been a couple years now since all the stuff with Joss went down, and I'm finding I'm not sure I remember precisely what his abhorrent behavior was (if I ever had a firm grasp on it in the first place).

Obviously, the beginning of his downfall was reveal of the extra-marital affair. But as far—

The only thing it can really be used to refer to is something inherently objectionable like AI.

Once people start using the term to describe anything they personally don't like, it detonates polite discussion. Applying it to anything that's just a matter of taste is plainly insulting.

It’s worth it for the political theater and the many weeks of negative news cycles.

The previous impeachment certainly didn’t hurt when it came election time.

I remember being very impressed by the transformation engineering on this one. Just really clever and elegant.

It's a bummer. Those figures looked really well sculpted and designed.

I think it's possible that there are enough people who are fond of the original Tron that there could be 10,000 of them willing to buy this; but I doubt the vast majority of that group were even aware of this campaign.

The Ewoks replacing Wookiees in the final battle is not some secret information Kurtz set slip. Lucas has been very up front about it since the 1983 BTS TV special (filmed before the movie came out), and gave his thought process behind it.

People didn't like the Ewoks, so they worked backward from—

If Lucas was so concerned about toys, he would never have killed off Boba Fett as a joke. That was already a toy that was very popular with the established audience. If he were making story decisions based on toy sales, the sure bet would have been to prominently feature Fett and others like him.

The Death Star? Its destructive power? Both are shown.

It doesn't have to be the exact same experience as someone familiar with the other movies in order to be a positive, coherent one.

Sure, it leads into another movie, but that can be watched after, doesn't have to be before.

Well, wait, I think it probably could work without seeing anything else first. Try to imagine, honestly, how a new viewer would actually experience it.

What does the story deal with that isn't also established within itself?

The Empire? Rebellion? Perfectly understandable based on what's shown—

ANH is also just a useful title for basic utilitarian purposes. There are now thousands of stories that fall under the general title of "Star Wars"; ANH allows us to specify that particular one.

It's like objecting to the first Star Trek being identified as "TOS".

Of course movies can be bad.

You simply aren't making a convincing argument as to why this movie is supposed to be bad; you're just accusing it of misdeeds without presenting any evidence.

—what would naturally be there in that circumstance.

And can we not use the word "slop" just to describe something you don't like. It lessens its potency when talking about truly objectionable things like AI, and it's intrinsically insulting to anyone who does like that thing.

There's no "fan service" in RO that compromises the story (unlike TFA) or is even out of place, other than the two cantina guys (but they were apparently just something Edwards really wanted, so even that wasn't deployed cynically).

Other than that one exception, every pre-existing thing is just—
