Thinking about a 96 degree day back in August when I rode 57 miles to Darrington, Washington.

Looking across an old railroad trestle that crosses the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River. This is part of the multiuse Whitehorse Trail. 3 humans are swimming in the river which is lined by trees under a cloudless bluesky. A white pickup truck is parked in front of a classic red farmhouse. A steep wooded slope leads up to the glacial crested Whitehorse Mountain towering above the farm. A gravel surfaced trail cuts through a tunnel of trees. The shade was very welcome along this portion of the Whitehorse Trail. Looking down at Squire Creek from and old train trestle. A reddish beam with rivets borders the bottom of the frame. Blue sky is reflected in the creek as well as the trees along the creek bank. There is a sandy beach on one side of the creek where I filtered water.

Cascade Crunch

The sound of gravel was my constant companion today riding on the Palouse to Cascades Trail

Mountain Bison Bicycle

The summit of Mt Tahoma (Mt Rainier) towers above hazy blue foothills. A "red dog" bison calf roots around the pasture with it's snoot. My bicycle (Kona Sutra LTD) lays on the size of a gravel road. Salad Days

Bicycling into a stout headwind today paid off when I turned around and let the wind drive me through the spring scenery.

Hiatus in the Firs

I haven't been on the bicycle much because of an injured knee, but I did manage to get out this past week and enjoy some perfect spring weather.
