It's always exciting to hear about performances that have taken place around the world! So it was great to hear that Kelly Ann Bixby (sop) and Brett Landry (marimba) performed 'Gentle' at a 'Le Salon' concert at the Lafayette School of Music in Louisiana in September. I wish I could have been there!

Heading for Aylesbury today to hear the wonderful Amabile trio give the second performance of my Anatomy of Angels! It seems like an age since the première in York last year and I can't wait to hear it again!

At last I've reached the double bar line of a new duo for flute and treble recorder, for Sarah McNulty and Carmen Troncoso. Mise en Abyme (the phenomenon in art and literature where something contains an image of itself, repeating into infinity) will be performed in October - details to follow.

No pictures can capture the incredible range of music and dance we witnessed on Saturday at Late Music Concerts, York, or the sublime fluency of the performances, but here are just a few shots from our rehearsal. Thanks to @musicontheedge.bsky.social and our fabulous dancers from NSCD.

Thanks to Harrogate Band for a fabulous performance of Fox on Saturday. This was I was commissioned in 2019 but due to the pandemic we had to wait until now to hear it - it was well worth the wait! Thanks to Craig Ratcliffe for directing with such precision and authority. Let's do it again sometime!

There are two performances of my music this weekend: on Saturday Fallen will be performed by Norwich singers, then on Sunday Gentle will form part of a recital given by Elayna Parandi (soprano) and Anna Day (marimba) at Indiana Wesleyan University, USA - no tariffs were paid! @uymp.bsky.social

Day 2 in Singapore, and the first rehearsal of 'Unity' - with orchestra alone. It's going to be great! Also the cathedral, cocktails at Raffles, curry at Lau Sa Pat, and a light show at the Marina Bay.

I'm so looking forward to hearing Sarah-Jane Gibson performing 'Snow' this evening, and Lara Brown playing 'Angelus' in the Winter concert at YSJ; my kind students and colleagues are helping me celebrate 30 years at YSJ! The concert starts at 7:30 in the Creative Centre if you're at a loose end!

I'm just putting finishing touches to a new piece for choir and orchestra, commissioned for the NLCS Festival of Performing Arts in Singapore - first performance in February next year. And, of course, I'll pop over for the festival and am very excited to be seeing Singapore for the first time.
