I’ve seen this often. Part of it is a lack of communication between nephrology, IR and pathology.

Understanding the specific scenarios is very important: ie. critical retrieval of medulla if BKN is suspected, sampling of perirenal soft tissue if IgG4 is susp. etc

Unfortunately, the offer for fellowships is already a very small number, and the application pool is already smaller. I’m not aware of official data though, that’s why I was curious about your statement
