It’s also partly Kallas. As good as she is on Russia that’s about the only thing she’s good at. In every other foreign policy issue she’s demonstrated to not be up to the task / able to stand up for EU values/interests

Absolutely! Even in countries sliding towards authoritarianism and stuck at the hybrid democracy/competitive authoritarianism step, elections can still be won by the opposition - plenty of evidence from Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia… it just takes big mobilisation to preempt dirty tricks
