Groundhog Day Excitement!
It's been a long day waiting for him to come out but we finally have a sighting and an answer:
YES, Dave has seen his shadow!
After initially seeming a bit frightened and confused, he's calmed down and was last seen having a bagel and coffee.

Next is the newly-refurbished Palm Springs Plaza Theatre where we saw "A John Waters Christmas", a one man show by the director. I took the pic of the marquee on the way out of the show (no photos at the show) and went back this week to take pics of the theater. Also, Divine in The Graffiti Yard.

Next is the newly-refurbished Palm Springs Plaza Theatre where we saw "A John Waters Christmas", a one man show by the director. I took the pic of the marquee on the way out of the show (no photos at the show) and went back this week to take pics of the theater. Also, Divine in The Graffiti Yard.

It's Christmas time in Palm Springs, and I've been up to a couple things.

We got a new dog a few months ago from a local shelter. Skip is an Australian Shepherd mix, about three years old. We liked the name but it quickly became Scoob. Like the breed, he is athletic, playful, protective, smart, friendly, loves toys and the outdoors. Scoob is a good boy.

Graffiti Park Part 2 and behind the Palm Springs Art Museum. I post so infrequently that these are still from late last summer. (The one pic with the trail is to the right of the building with the heart statues. I thought I would be able to check it out but it is closed to the public.)

Graffiti Park in Palm Springs Part 1. This is part of my first visit to the little sandlot across the street from the art museum parking garage that is a specific legal place for graffiti artists. Who knows where these quotes are from? (Check the tongues in the middle of the 2nd pic for a clue.)

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is one of ten sovereign nations of the Cahuilla. The people have inhabited this area for 5,000 years. Their land stretches throughout Riverside County and includes Indian Canyons. These pics are just a couple of local pieces that recognize Agua Caliente.

Sonny Bono (Sonny & Cher, member of Congress) is a big deal in Palm Springs. Sonny was a resident and the 16th mayor of PS. He also created the Palm Springs International Film Festival. So there’s a statue of Sonny Bono downtown! (At least one more Sonny-related post coming in the future.)

The CA backyard! Palm trees, different cacti, ocotillo, rosemary, a lemon tree, and others. Hummingbirds, other small birds, two crows I call Chris and Rich have set up a nest in the neighbor's tree, and the occasional road runner. And a view of the San Jacinto Mountains.

RIP Huntleigh the dog
Huntleigh was kind, curious and intelligent. She was a mother to the cats and a gentle giant.
Huntleigh was my constant companion, a great listener, followed me everywhere, and was the best non-human friend I have ever had. We miss her.

Lucille Ball was in Palm Springs in the '30s, eloped with Desi Arnaz there, continued to live there while Desi played local clubs. An episode of "I Love Lucy" was set in PS. The movie "The Long, Long Trailer" was filmed in PS. Lucy lived there thru the '60s.
