Members of Congress don't receive a salary after leaving office. And their pensions are based on years of federal service. In fact, House members who only serve one term get no pension benefit at all, as 2 years is too short a time to be vested.

Yes, if I was told to obviously execute someone - that is obviously an illegal order. Using force against fellow Americans? Well that is harder to say, in the circumstances. This is not black and white; that decision has to be made quickly.

I spent 22 years in the Army (active duty, not that pertend stuff that Hegseth did.) We talked about this all the time. You better know it is an illegal order or you could be going to Levenworth for a long time.

They actually do have to do reporting. Every year non-profits have to file a tax return. Why it is so important to have the guards (irs agents, beurocrats, etc) to keep them honest.
