4: Chappaquiddick aka The Senator. Turns out these Kennedys really are selfish, narcissistic bastards. Edward Kennedy, driving drunk, kills a young woman in a car crash and then proceeds to protect his career rather than take any responsibility for the accident 6/10

Italian sleazy horror, legend’s debut theatrical release, two “based on true story” films featuring very different theatres of war.

3: First watch of Late Nights Trains (aka Night Train Murders). Sleazy horror as two young women are sexually assaulted on a train to Italy by two scumbags with the twisted addition of a psychotic woman joining in. Ennio Morricone provides a sparse yet effective score 5/10

Also, benefit fraud on PIP, by the governments own figures, is less than 0.1%, whilst underpayments by government to claimants have been between 1 and 3%.

2: First watch of The Sugarland Express. Spielberg’s first theatrical feature yet his eye for the perfect shot is already in evidence. The 70s culture trend of backing the underdog is very much in evidence and there are cars, many many cars. 6/10

First watch of Hurricane (2018). Telling the story of 303 Sqn in the Battle of Britain, it’s a perfunctory effort, full of historical inaccuracies but it does pay tribute to the Poles (and others) that came together to win through in our darkest hour. 6/10

Gorgeous western that will likely never be finished, action film that perfected the close in action style, intriguing psychological drama and a legacy sequel that was better than it should have been.

2: First watch of Small Things Like These. Cillian Murphy pivots from Oppenheimer to an Irish kitchen sink drama with a low key, emotional performance as a coal man who discovers and wrestles with abuses by the local convent. Emily Watson is particularly sinister 6/10

This sounds suspiciously identical to the previous Rwanda scheme.

Here’s the contribution but, so basically that minister spoke out of line and should have to explain why he said what he said about jewellery.

This is a big one and incredibly nasty. Basically if you wish to apply for asylum you could homeless for all they care.

Basically, if they have a huge amount that is clearly not personal and for the purpose of selling then it could be used as a contribution to their living costs but personal jewellery will not be. I’d rather wait until the full details are properly announced than believe any newspaper.

Classic dissection of British warfare and foreign policy pre WWII, badly executed straight to DVD sequel, decent attempt at Robert The Bruce with a very dodgy accent and fun legacy sequel.

First watch of The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp. A brave film made on the midst of WWII that positioned a sympathetic German character alongside criticism of British tactics in the Boer war and post WWI. It’s a P&P film so obviously looks stunning the entire runtime 9/10

Two Hammers, one generic actioner from a legend who seems to have lost his way a bit and a quintessential turn of the millennium film. Mixed results, nothing spectacular but mainly fun.

2: The Satanic Rites of Dracula. Hammer horror with Lee’s Dracula and Cushing Van Helsing in early 70s London with Lalo Schifrin style soundtrack. Joanna Lumley also pops up as Cushing smokes an immense amount of cigarettes preventing Dracula’s biological warfare plan 6/10

Tense, anti-nuclear drama/horror, gory, one location horror, WWII concentration camp horrors, woman confronts rapist/torturer years later. Three not so obvious horrors and one very obvious for Halloween week.

3: The Collector (2009). A fast, nasty, ride through a booby trapped house with a sadistic killer. Much better than I could have expected. Inventive at times although I do wonder how he had time to rig the house in the timescale of the film 8/10
