In Oamaru (NZ) you can sit quietly in a little stand at dusk and watch hundreds of them arrive from the Ocean, waddle up the beach and go to their little homes on the shore. It’s quite something. www.penguins.co.nz

Yes, I think locked differential is indeed the root cause. He is keeping the same extension on his left leg so he kind of swings it out to account for the shorter stride it needs to take.

Theil is a US citizen (gained NZ citizenship more recently so he could have a bolt hole I think). So it would be tough to ban him. He was born in Germany, but grew up in South Africa.

I think in other commonwealth countries we are starting to do this too (especially tourism). Partly in solidarity, but also simply because of what is happening in the US.
