It doesn't really matter; the US is well known for having strong opinions on every other country and religious group on the planet, and feel that's their birthright.

It's not an unreasonable projection.
The USA is only a "Christian country" because White Europeans came and did the exact same thing.

He probably can't find the funds for this, even WITH him selling off the rubble from the former wing.
But that's fine; if he doesn't start it until he leaves office, he will just keep the money and it will be the taxpayer's problem.

My understanding is that he doesn't know what it will cost (yet) because he keeps sending the architects away demanding it be bigger and have more gold decor.

Even just the transparent compensation would leave it empty. Employers/Agencies almost never post that, and usually demand to know what you are currently earning so they can rank candidates by relative cost to their client.
