Why does the Conservative Party tolerate the membership of Susan Hall? Why, in particular, do Conservatives in #London?

Just back from a wander round my bit of #hackney, including Chatsworth Road Market. "Nige" would have hated it. #london #truelondon #stopfarage

Things I'm remembering today: 1, Hitler was, among other things, an authoritarian nationalist who claimed he would "save" Germany; 2, WW2 Britain fought for freedom and against fascism; 3, We must never surrender to the Far(age) Right. #RemembranceDay

What kind of "movement" would that be, so-called Tommy? The bowel variety?

Went to less the Oxford Street Christmas lights come on last night. Didn't spot Nigel Farage.

A source close to the Mayor of London (as they say) has released these lines about Zohran #Mamdani:

Continuing with two snaps of granddaughter, one before London Aquarium rainforest section crocodile incident (left) and one during (right). #london.

In further London Eye grandparental visit news, I can report that, for the first time, I noticed that you can see both St Paul's and what was originally called the Post Office Tower rather well from up there (as well as Mr Piano's brightly-coloured St Giles Circus) 🧵

When a grandchild reaches the age of 6, it is essential that they are taken for a ride on the London Eye followed by a visit to the London Aquarium. #london #truelondon

Wasting no time, @southwarklibdems.bsky.social have sent out a press release about Rachel Reeves renting out her family home in #London.

Was very pleased to chair a London Society event at New London Architecture's Guildhall HQ yesterday. The theme was the role #housing might play in the future of the Square Mile and City of London Corporation. Full report coming for OnLondon soon. Pic by @leannetritton.bsky.social #london

A graph by Vincent Stops showing the decline of bus service speeds in London (outside the pandemic) over the past 12 years. #london #transport #buses.

It's worth reflecting that the very mechanism of extracting significant amounts of London's affordable housing through negotiations with private developers causes difficulties for both. Here's top housing journalist Peter Bill's case study. #london #housing

Neat summing up of terrible tizz going on at X/Twitter.

Enjoyed some very London moments at newly-opened Seven Sisters Market on Sunday. I was there at the same time as loads of NFL fans were heading for the Spurs ground (to watch something they call football but, of course, isn't). A few dropped in for coffee en route. #london #truelondon

Spent a bit of time yesterday catching up on Susan's Enthusiasms. Hall remains a good example of the degeneration of the Conservatives. #london

I crossed Tower Bridge on my #London travels early today (before going to Diwali on the Square). I could not have timed it better.

I asked them if they were tired of smiling yet. They said yes, but they didn't seem to mind. Photo taken in front of National Gallery as Diwali on the [Trafalgar] Square got underway. #london #truelondon

Long queue again outside V&A East Storehouse at the Olympic Park in east #London yesterday afternoon. How odd. The way some politicians and journalists tell it, people who live in the capital are scared to venture outside their homes. #truelondon

Interesting to watch the local Left rivals to Labour gearing up and looking ahead to next May. Will they collaborate or compete? What are their suggestions for dealing with council budget pressures and other difficulties faced by local authorities? #london #hackney

Her close ally & fellow Trump Tory, Alessandro, has praised Kemi Badenoch this week. But, so far, #Susanhall has not. It's normal for Hall to show more enthusiasm for such as Rupert Lowe than for her own party, of course. But her silence during #conservatives2025 has been striking.

Once again, I ventured into that urban jungle of alien criminality, the West End of #London. Once again, I return home unscathed after taking refuge in the Maison Bertaux on Greek Street (all sounds a bit foreign, doesn't it, Nige?) #truelondon
