I think they’re underselling the changes, a bit. There’s significant difference to the overall tone of the conflict, Mel herself has a considerably different outcome for herself as well as a few other characters.

Also the True Ending sequence is expanded on quite a bit.

It’s worth a look

There’s a patch that addresses the bulk of ending concerns, adding a lot more context, and changing a bit of the Underworld pathway post final fight.

It’s currently in preview right now and you can find play throughs on YouTube if you don’t want to use the preview build incantation.
