Colorado raised, living in New Zealand. Dad to 2, ex-raft guide, perennially injured runner, private pilot, engineer, and data geek.
Interesting that the international line regularly dips into the negative, whereas the NZ line never does so. Price drops only occur in a competitive environment.

Still #internationalcatday on the other side of the dateline!

The 3d print file had an alternative to allow LEDs to be installed, with solar charging, but I'll be happy with red nail polish for now.

32 here. Airports only adds 1 that I can recall.

I need one...

To my knowledge there are no modern incidents of these switches moving shutting off one engine, much less two. It is an important line of inquiry, but at this stage it's highly improbable.

Pilot action is, by far, the most probable cause. The question is whether it was inadvertent or intentional.

I mean my brain has short circuited and I've accidentally put the salt in the refrigerator before, so muscle memory does weird things.

But this is more akin to turning your car off on the interstate, which I've never come close to doing.

TLDR: Stop. Building. In. Floodplains.
July 9, 2025 at 9:10 PM
It should be noted this is not unique to Texas or the USA even. I've worked in multiple jurisdictions, in a number of countries and they all struggle with this.

Then the whole cycle repeats. After all, floods are cyclical.

Yes, climate change is increasing the frequency of damaging floods, even pushing floods above design events.

But the vast majority of losses in Texas, and most flood events I have examined, were in areas of identified flood risk.

And the authorities, unwilling to be perceived as impinging on property rights, continue to allow development in areas of known flood risk.

And then the floods come. And the refrain is "we will rebuild!" And governments, wanting to appear helpful, step in and fund the rebuilding.

A large part of my career has been dedicated to the science of identifying flood zones and impacts. And time after time, I have seen that advice go unheeded.

"I've lived here 40 years and never seen a flood that bad" is a common refrain.

Fair enough, with the exception of A-line and 16th St. I'd go out of my way to avoid it too

USB-A in Christchurch. (I happen to be on a bus right now)
July 9, 2025 at 8:33 PM
We've got charging ports on our city buses in Christchurch, is that not more or less standard now?

The number of times I've said, "An AI is only as good as the data it was trained on" over the last year...

Just learning about this as well!

Lots of Andor vibes lately, especially Ghorman.

what do you want to bet the 'track other aircraft' feature gets turned off after a few instances of passengers panicking when they don't realize the aircraft they think is about to collide with them is a mile below them?
