Grok being evil doesn’t imply the existence of the ‘good guys’.

Maybe they’re all objectively bad?

Sensible. Love this for us.

This has already existed for a couple years without mass market appeal or hype (in the form of Rewind/Limitless, recently acquired by Meta).

Whenever ICE turns up, restaurants should just take their orders and never cook the food. When they complain, insist that it’s on the way right up until they leave.

Even if one of them did, it would be out of shareholder interest. It’s pretty much all they care about.

Like, at the very least it should tell you which of your family/friends are vegan or pescatarian or immigrants.

Why doesn’t Instagram put a “real” badge any photo taken directly through their app? They could do dozens of small things like this to counter the onslaught of AI slop if they cared about anything other than engagement.

Why not make this even simpler?

To each, the healthcare they need, FUNDED BY each, an amount they can afford to pay?

If you love trains, here’s an award-winning novel that is free online in glorious 1990s HTML format (also purchasable as a physical book).

A London Underground train contains 253 passengers, each with 253 words written about them, describing their connected lives. It’s awesome.

Settings > Moderation > Muted Words. I’ve had ‘Trump’ and ‘Elon’ muted for a year and it makes a huge difference. Also worked when nobody could stop talking about Luigi Whatzisface.

Exactly. It’s not like alcohol where there’s all that evidence that it’s bad if you’re under 18 (or 21 or whatever), and harmless thereafter.

Would love your opinion (in longform YT content) on how the US possibly comes back from this. I’m not seeing it.

Can we also talk about how Semafor in general started promisingly, but has become depressingly pro-AI and routinely uses the Jordan Peterson “there’s nothing we can do about it” defence?

This book breaks it all down quite elegantly.

This is not a new story. ‘Run fast and break things’ is a dogshit mantra. There’s no incentive for SV tech companies to plan for obvious or unintended consequences or do basic, responsible human-centred design.

I just started a book featuring this whole clown car of AI supremacists. Highly recommended.

Isn’t Allen Iverson more of a parallel for LLM-era AI?

Scores “yay points”, low efficiency, looks good and has some big cultural moments, but ultimately isn’t game-changing or historically great *ducks*
