Owned by oligarchs, the aged snake oil salesman transferred the United States from a functioning democratic republic to a plutocracy in astonishing speed. In rapid order, the country went from “the people” to racists and billionaires. All others suffered.

All the rest of us can do is RESIST!

It’s easy. Trump’s mandate is to maintain the social order or rich, straight, white, Christian males at the top. Everyone else falls below. A black woman is both black and a woman.

Yeah, probably. It would help.
December 22, 2024 at 2:23 PM
Obama was one of the most successful and best presidents ever, according to most historians, so why would you consider him a “failure”?
December 22, 2024 at 3:24 AM
All economists know this and have been shouting this from the rooftops for months. Tariffs make prices go up and invite retaliation from other countries. Trump’s previous tariffs made house and apartment prices go up and lost much of our soybean market. So much so that he had to bail out farmers.

Ha ha ha! 90% of the stuff you buy is ONLY made overseas, and 90% of the other 10% gets its materials from overseas, so…there you are. And if there are American manufacturers that compete on price with overseas companies, they’ll just raise their prices to match the cost with the tariffs.
December 21, 2024 at 10:59 PM
Sure! Just transfer trillions more from the poor middle class to the rich. Great idea! You do realize that you’d pay for all the tariffs with much higher prices, right?
December 21, 2024 at 9:20 PM
Fair enough. I deleted my comment. When I read your previous comment I thought you were agreeing with me, but then I saw you were replying to me and not the other guy, and I said to myself, “Wait…what?” 😄

Sure, jobs have been created, crappier and crappier ones while the billionaires walk off with a higher and higher share of the wealth. Unless we reverse this with taxes and minimum wage hikes, it will continue to get worse and worse.
December 21, 2024 at 8:36 PM
I can’t imagine how anyone “hanging on to LOWER middle class” would advocate for billionaires. Stockholm syndrome? Our economy has been driven by deficits pretty much since the early 80’s and, not coincidentally, the wage and wealth gap between the middle class and wealthy have grown significantly.

If you think I was talking about communism, then you obviously DON’T know what communism is. Sorry.
December 21, 2024 at 8:32 PM
Since you took an economics course, go back to your textbook and look up “velocity of money”.
December 21, 2024 at 8:30 PM
Well, anyone who says “the rich” create jobs (because they’re rich) is simply wrong. Basic economics. Your point about the poor spending money is valid. And that’s the point. THAT is what creates jobs. Might be liquor store jobs, fast food jobs, whatever, but the poor will spend it. And that’s good
December 21, 2024 at 8:30 PM
Of course, he forgot about all the jobs in alcohol, drugs, and fast food that could create! 😄
December 21, 2024 at 6:03 PM
They won’t. Because it has nothing to do with deaths of children. All about maintaining the social order. EVERY Republican policy is about that.
December 21, 2024 at 4:50 PM
My weak reply is that I meant presidential election years. Sorry for not specifying. In the off years, the party of the president tends to do poorly. Democrats did bad in both 2010 and 2014.
December 21, 2024 at 4:48 PM
Ah! Well I’m reading now that payout of full benefits may end sometime in 2033. It gets confusing.
December 21, 2024 at 4:46 PM
Seems like it would take a long time even just using copy-and-paste.
December 21, 2024 at 4:40 PM
I mean yeah, his very first statement as a candidate coming down the escalator. From 1980-2012, very strong correlation between the economy and the success of the incumbent party, but not Trump’s three elections. Hard to understand how so many pundits don’t see this. Seems obvious to me.
December 21, 2024 at 4:38 PM
Guess it depends on your definition. When someone attempts to counter with a detail that may be true, but is hardly relevant to the original point, then yeah, I call that pedantic.
December 21, 2024 at 4:23 PM
You didn’t read my reply, did you?
December 21, 2024 at 4:17 PM
Trump has been a Russian asset for many years.
December 21, 2024 at 4:15 PM
Nope. Called you out on your nonsense article.
